Data We Collect
NomadMetrics does not collect personal information. No account creation, login, or registration is required. All expenses, income, budgets, categories, trips, and notes are stored exclusively in your device’s local storage and never leave your device unless you explicitly export them.
Location Data
The app can optionally capture GPS coordinates when adding a transaction to tag it with a location name. This is off by default and can be enabled or disabled at any time in Settings. The first time you enable it, iOS will ask for location permission, which you can grant or deny. When enabled, your coordinates are sent to BigDataCloud to convert them into a place name (reverse geocoding).
You can also search for a place by name when adding or editing a transaction. When you do, the text you type and an approximate location (used to show nearby results first) are sent to Photon, an OpenStreetMap-based search service operated by komoot, which returns matching places. In both cases only your coordinates or the text you enter are transmitted, never your personal or financial data, and nothing is linked to your identity.
Currency Exchange Rates
The app fetches exchange rates from the Frankfurter API (European Central Bank). If Frankfurter is unavailable, it falls back to open.er-api.com. These requests contain only currency codes and no personal data.
Third-Party Services
NomadMetrics does not use analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or any tracking services. It contacts only a small number of external services, each for a single functional purpose: BigDataCloud converts GPS coordinates into a place name, Photon (operated by komoot) searches for places by name when you look one up, and Frankfurter (European Central Bank) provides exchange rates, with open.er-api.com used as a fallback if Frankfurter is unavailable. These requests contain only what each service needs to do its job, such as coordinates, a search term, or currency codes, and never your personal or financial data. We do not sell, share, rent, or trade your data with any third party.
Data Storage & Security
All data is stored in your device’s local storage. There is no cloud backup or server-side storage. The app provides JSON backup and restore, allowing you to manually export your data to a file that remains under your control.
Data Deletion
You can delete all data at any time via Settings → Reset All Data & Settings. Individual transactions can be deleted by swiping left. Trips and categories can be removed through their management screens.
Your Rights
Because all your data stays on your device and we have no access to it, you already have full control. You can view, export, modify, or permanently delete any of your data at any time directly within the app. There is no account to close and no data to request from us.
Children’s Privacy
NomadMetrics is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected here with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
